Can Botino (or Can Montero, or Casa Fonne) was one of the most emblematic buildings in Ibiza town and in Dalt Vila (Ibiza’s Old Town) from many points of view (historical, architectural, cultural, social ones). Together with other constructions in Ibiza, it forms part of the World’s Heritage List.

The Ibiza Consortium for the World`s Heritage List –integrated by the local Town Council and the Island’s Council- is carrying out some works which are about to be completed; in my opinion, these works break the local rules and plans as well as some regional and state ones, but they specially break the Agreement for Protection of the World’s Heritage List of the UNESCO. This Agreement must be observed by the states which have some of their Heritage included in the World’s Heritage List.

I reported the works to the Town Council and the Council of Ibiza and Formentera when they still had time to reorient them, but I did not achieve this aim.
Later I reported them to the ICOMOS and to the Ministry of Culture and I have reiterated the initial reports.

Up to now I have achieved nothing, except for the report issued by ICOMOS after their visit in October 2004. This report seems to have been critical of the works; it was sent to the Director of The Heritage Centre of the UNESCO, who has not published it, despite having been requested

The aim of the present web page is to spread this inexplicable situation and to ask for your collaboration and support to my reports in order to reorient this affair as well as to avoid the repetition of such cases.
